Cudmirrah Berrara Rural Fire Brigade

Great idea from Cudmirrah Berrara Rural Fire Brigade, Fire Truck Friday! Look who they featured this week.........
Head over to their page and see what another RFS Brigade is up to, one big organisation all serving our communities throughout NSW #whywelovetheRFS ... See more

This week on Firetruck Friday we visit Robertson Rural Fire Brigade located at the Eastern Edge of the Southern Highlands. Robertson is a growing village centrally located to Sydney and Canberra and close to Wollongong. The brigade has roughly 25-30 active members attending about 65 incidents a year. About one third of these calls are for MVA’s and another third for structural fires. The brigade also attends HR burns, bush and grass fires and anything else the community needs assistance with. The brigade is home to a Cat 11 Pumper and a dual cabin Cat 7. Robertson Pumper holds 3000L and has room for 4 CABA sets. The pumper also has all the normal hoses, nozzles and equipment relating to village firefighting for the 6 crew members to use. The pumper also has a portable monitor which can be attached to the bull bar if needed. The dual cab cat 7 is primarily set up for responses to off road incidents with all the necessary equipment related to bush fire fighting. The cat 7 holds 1200L and room for 6 crew. The brigade also houses a PC vehicle which is used to transport ancillary equipment and can be used for members to get to and from incidents (like shift work) and transport a portable lighting tower for incidents at night. The light tower is crucial for safe and efficient working conditions when the area is not lit by sunlight. Robertson Rural Fire Brigade also works closely with other RFS brigades and FRNSW crews from Moss Vale and Bowral. The brigade also works closely with the local SES units notably during the East Coast Low which battered the area in 2016. The brigade helped establish a forward command post and staging area for the operations unfolding for the flooding in the area. The brigade has a lot of serious infrastructure in the area including Sydney Water Catchment Pumping Stations, Illawarra Highway and Macquarie Pass, a rail freight line and also the town receives some of the states highest rainfall making callouts that tad more interesting. The brigade has been serving the area since the 1930’s and is a well respected group of members. Thanks to Robertson Rural Fire Brigade and if your brigade wants to be featured get in touch.
Don’t forget to chuck both brigades a like and comment and share.

Toll Air Ambulance

Our friends in the sky. This is a mighty machine to witness up close, which we have many times at Robertson. We’d prefer to just wave as it passes though, so please always drive to the conditions.

Onlooker Andrew Bosa captured Rescue 208 departing Robertson Showgrounds last month, where we had been tasked to meet NSW Ambulance road crews to provide critical care for a patient on scene and en route to Liverpool Hospital. ... See more

Photos from Robertson Rural Fire Brigade's post

Last night we held our Annual General Meeting which is a great time of reflecting on the last year of brigade activities, and electing field and administrative officers to take us into the next year.

As part of the night our Captain Brendhan Waters paid tribute to the long service of current Brigade President Jim Wilson, who has been an RFS volunteer in our brigade for we believe 72 years!

Dates are hard to pin down exactly but Jim has now served the Robertson community as part of our Brigade Executive for around 40 years. He was elected Captain in the late 70’s, holding that position until 2000, and then serving as our President from that year until now.

We were proud to recognise this remarkable service at our AGM presenting Jim with a ‘trophy’ of sorts!

Special thanks to Robertson Village Woodworks and Abbey Engraving in Albion Park for their assistance in putting this together.
